The Pays de la Loire has 5 areas recognised as 'Vignobles et Découvertes' wine destinations  providing high quality facilities for visitors, including accommodation and restaurants, events and museums, vineyards and wine tasting tours. The Loire is France's third biggest producer of AOC wines.

Every year, on the first weekend of September, a hiking and wine tasting event takes place throughout the Loire Valley: the Vignes Vins Rando event . The leisurely few-hour walks crossing vineyards are punctuated by wine tasting sessions along the way.
