The 'Sarthe à Vélo' route links two major European cycle ways: la Véloscénie from Paris to the Mont-Saint-Michel and la Loire à Vélo . It includes over 400 kms of safe signposted cycle routes.

There are 2 main itineraries in the Sarthe :

- North of Le Mans: the 'V44' itinerary Alençon-Le Mans-Sablé-La Flèche follows the River Sarthe and meets the Véloscénie route in Normandy.

- South of Le Mans: from Le Mans to the 'V47 Loir Valley' itinerary in Château-du-Loir, crossing Bercé forest.
