Les Sables d'Olonne is a popular seaside resort on the Atlantic coast.
It has a lovely long fine sand beach and a pleasant seafront promenade. Les Sables-d'Olonne also has thalassotherapy centres, a casino and a golf course.
Les Sables-d’Olonne is probably most famous for its sailing heritage as it is the point of departure for the ‘Vendée Globe’, an around the world sailing race. Three ports are accessed from the harbour. The Arundel tour and the Château St Clair stand on guard near the entrance to the port. Quaint fishing cottages with brightly painted shutters hint at the strong fishing trade of the town.
