It’s a ‘must-see’ destination in Nantes, both a monument ‘historique’ and a fabulous place to eat!

This ‘Art Nouveau’ building, first opened in 1895 and showcases all the best of this ‘epoque’.  Rescued and refurbished in 1982, the restaurant is a reflection of all that is ‘Nantais: taste, fine-dining and ‘savoir vivre’.  It’s a better way of life! Entering the restaurant is like stepping back in time to a magical, glamorous era. The décor mirrors the great brasseries of the 19th Century. You instantly feel like a VIP as you are led to your table and things just get better! The service is impeccable and the food divine. They cater for allergies and personal tastes (my husband is allergic to garlic so they modified his dish). The focus is on freshness and the menu changes seasonally with a focus on regional produce.

The staff are attentive and friendly and you feel completely pampered. However this is not some stuffy upmarket restaurant, it’s a brasserie. It’s open from 7.30am to 12:30pm and you can have breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner: everything from a cup of coffee to a gourmet blow-out dinner! Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is buzzing. In summer, the action spills-out onto the terrace -  a perfect spot to watch the world go by.

La Cigale is unique, impossible to replicate. A truly memorable experience!
