Nantes is not all about history. The up-and-coming ‘île’ is now a lively, contemporary cultural centre and proves that Nantes is firmly ensconced in the 21st century.

Still being developed, it has become a centre for music and fine art. The Stereolux concert hall and studios give opportunities for both established and aspiring musicians to be heard.
Along the Loire River you can follow the trumpeting of the Great Elephant to the Machines de l’île, an exciting interactive adventure inspired by both Leonardo de Vinci and Nantes’ very own Jules Verne. A few steps away, at the tip of the ‘île’ of Nantes, you’ll find the ‘Hanger à Bananes’ (a converted banana warehouse), where the café and restaurant terraces hum with a seaside resort atmosphere well into the night. And you ain’t seen nothing yet! With the ‘Voyage à Nantes’ coming up in 2012, an explosion of cultural and patrimonial riches will provide a truly out-of-the-ordinary experience.
